Be Perfect

"Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." (Mt. 5:48)

We all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well (Jas 3:2). Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. (2 Cor 7:1)

As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him (2 Sam 22:31; Ps 18:30). The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple (Ps 19:7). His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He (Dt 32:4).

Do you know about the layers of the thick clouds, The wonders of one perfect in knowledge (Job 37:16). For truly my words are not false; One who is perfect in knowledge is with you (Job 36:4). Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow (Jas 1:17). But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does (Jas 1:25).

God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect (Heb 11:40). For the Law made nothing perfect, and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God (Heb 7:19). And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation (Heb 5:9).

By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world (1 Jn 4:17).There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love (1 Jn 4:18).

Lord, the steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because I trust in You (Isa 26:3).
